NICOLA CAHR

NICOLA comes from the very respected breeding program of Gina Manion, one of the mainstays of Arabian breeding in the midwestern United States beginning in the 1940's. Gina's program was carefully balanced and designed with intensive linebreeding to SKOWRONEK but ample outcrossing through unrelated dam lines. NICOLA has 11 lines to the double SKOWRONEK son *RAFFLES and four to the SKOWRONEK son *RASEYN, as well as two additional lines through the SKOWRONEK grandson IMAGE. NICOLA is a full brother to many times halter and western pleasure champion CANYON WINRIF.

NICOLA'S sire WINRAFF++, a Legion of Merit winner, is a multi-champion halter and western pleasure winner and an accomplished dressage horse who gave many exhibitions of his talents with Gina aboard. WINRAFF++ was a successful sire of both show and family horses with superb dispositions like his own. Among his show ring winners are 1980 Canadian Top Ten Western Pleasure and Region 13 Top Five Western Pleasure CANYON WIN GIN++ (closely related to NICOLA as he is by WINRAFF++ out of a RUFFLES daughter, whereas NICOLA is out of a RUFFLES granddaughter). Legion of Merit winner DD RIMARAFF++ and Legion of Merit winner MIA WIN++ (a halter, english and western pleasure champion). WINRAFF++ is by ORBIT, a stallion bred by *RAFFLES' final owner, Alice Payne. She was a masterbreeder who concentrated the blood of *RAFFLES using selected dam lines to enhance the best traits of the resulting foal. ORBIT'S champion get included U.S. Top Ten English Pleasure RIF ET REF++ and U.S. Top Ten Western Pleasure and Stock IMATRA. IMATRA has produced Scottsdale Champion Stock Horse IMPASS and IMOGENE, dam of U.S. National Champion Western Champion Pleasure Driving and Top Ten Mare SHIMMERING STAR++ and U.S. Top Ten Stock Horse ASIL DYGNYTY. SYZYGY get have produced such National winners as U.S. Top Ten Hunt Pleasure 3TR and Trail FABLE SILKN SATIN, U.S. Top Ten Jumper and Trail KM ARISTOSON, Canadian National Champion Open Cutting HEAVENLY LIGHTNING, and U.S. National Champion Open Cutting GSA MISTY CHERIE. ORBIT is also a full brother to ASIL APOGEE, a sire of halter and western pleasure champions and the maternal grandsire of 1996 U.S. Top Ten Native Costume AOTR JR CICERO.

RAFFERTY is by *RAFFLES (sire of 2 National winners and 45 producers of National winners) out of the *RAFFLES granddaughter MASRUFA, dam of National Champion sires ASIL MYSTIC and MASRUF ET NATTAL. WINRAFF++ is out of SHALIMAR WINGIDA, who was bred by Bill Munson of Shalimar Arabians. Dr. Munson was concerned with breeding functional horses and used many of his Arabians to cut cattle. (DESERT TWILIGHT is by a FERZON son out of a double RAFLAGE GRANDDAUGHTER whose sire is a full brother to CANYON MIST'S granddam DESERT JEWEL).
